Using REVEAL Direct Connection Mode with the myREVEAL App

No Network? No Problem. Analyze Diamonds Anywhere

Your REVEAL device does not need an existing Wi-Fi network to run an analysis. With Direct Connection Mode, the device broadcasts its own local network that your phone or tablet connects to directly. This lets you work fully offline and screen diamonds anywhere, including on the road, at a show, or in any location with no internet. Every analysis is saved to the device's internal memory and syncs to the cloud automatically the next time the device is online.

This guide applies to the REVEAL 2S and REVEAL 3S.

Before You Start

You will need your REVEAL device powered on, a smartphone or tablet with the myREVEAL app installed, and roughly one minute. No password, router, or internet connection is required.

Reading the Wi-Fi Button Light

The Wi-Fi button on the device tells you exactly what state it is in. Check the light before you begin.

• Blinking blue: Scanning for saved Wi-Fi networks
• Rapidly blinking blue: No network was found, or the device has no saved network
• Slowly glowing blue: Direct Connection Mode is active and broadcasting
• Solid blue: A mobile device is connected to the REVEAL via Direct Connection
• Blinking green: Connected to a Wi-Fi network and connecting to my.jtr.org
• Solid green: Connected to Wi-Fi with full access to the my.jtr.org portal
• Blinking turquoise: Connected by Ethernet and connecting to my.jtr.org
• Solid turquoise: Connected by Ethernet with full access to the my.jtr.org portal
• Off: if the device is powered on (green) and no light , please restart your device

For Direct Connection Mode, the two lights that matter are slowly glowing blue (the device is broadcasting and ready for you to join) and solid blue (your phone or tablet is connected).

Step 1: Turn On Direct Connection Mode

To activate Direct Connection Mode, press and hold the Wi-Fi button for 6 (six) seconds, then release. The button will begin slowly glowing blue. This works from any starting state, whether the device is on Wi-Fi (green), on Ethernet (turquoise), or searching for a network (blinking blue).

When the button is slowly glowing blue, the device is broadcasting and ready for a device to connect.

If the button is off and shows no light at all, the device is not ready. Please wait for it to light up before starting process.

Step 2: Connect Your Phone or Tablet to the Device

With the Wi-Fi button slowly glowing blue, the device is broadcasting a network named "JTRRDD-xxx."

Open the Wi-Fi settings on your phone or tablet, then select the "JTRRDD-xxx" network. No password is required.

Once your phone or tablet is connected, the Wi-Fi button turns solid blue. This confirms Direct Connection is established.

Step 3: Confirm the Connection in the App

Return to the myREVEAL app and check the two status indicators. Connection status should read "Available." Internet status should read "Offline." This is the correct state for Direct Connection Mode. "Offline" simply means the device is not connected to the internet right now, not that anything is wrong.

Step 4: Run Your Analysis

With the connection showing "Available," run your analysis exactly as you normally would. Each result is saved securely to the device's internal memory.

Step 5: Sync to the Cloud

The next time the device reconnects to a Wi-Fi network with internet access, every analysis saved during your Direct Connection Mode session synchronizes to the cloud automatically. Nothing is lost and no manual upload is needed.
