Analyzing with Reveal Diamond Detector 2S
This guide provides step-by-step instructions to conduct an analysis using the Reveal Diamond Detector 2S. Follow these steps to achieve accurate results and use the device correctly.
Preparation for Analysis
Before starting the analysis, ensure that the App Connectivity of your device is set to AVAILABLE in the MyReveal App.
If the Internet Status is Online:
- Saved analyses will be sent to the cloud system and can be accessed from past analyses.
If the Internet Status is Offline:
- Saved analyses will be stored in the device’s internal memory, but past analyses will not be accessible.
- When the Internet status is changed to Online, saved analyses in the device’s memory will sync to the cloud system, allowing access to past analyses.
Starting the Analysis
- In the app, tap Analyze Now. This will display settings such as the live camera stream, camera focus, and analysis method.
- Open the device drawer and place the ring, stone, or item you wish to analyze on the appropriate tray. Close the drawer.
For Optimal Focus:
- Press the Auto Focus button. If the focus is not clear enough, you can manually adjust it.
Choosing an Analysis Method
Select one of the following analysis methods based on your needs:
Quick Analysis:
- Captures fewer photos and provides basic results.
Standard Analysis:
- Captures more photos and includes partial exposure settings in the results. (Recommended method)
Detailed Analysis
- Captures the most photos and provides full exposure settings in the results.
Note: If you stay on this page for more than 45 seconds, the camera light may turn off. In this case, you can tap "Back" and then "Start Analysis" again or remove and reinsert the drawer.
Conducting the Analysis
- Tap the Analysis button. The duration of the analysis will vary depending on the selected method.
- The analysis results will appear on the screen once the process is complete.
- Important: If you close the app during the analysis, the process will be canceled.
Reviewing the Analysis Results
Analysis results provide various viewing options, including Result, Daylight, Fluorescent, and Phosphorescence.
Detailed Features:
Tap the button in the lower-left corner to access detailed analysis options:
- Single View: Displays one image on the screen.
- Top/Bottom View: Displays two images side-by-side for comparison.
- Top/Bottom Split View: Uses a split format to compare two images within a single view.

Note: If the Reveal device software version is 0.1.110 or higher, the Reference Stones feature has been added to the Analysis Results Review section. With this feature, you can compare analysis results more effectively and conduct more detailed evaluations. For more information, please refer to the Viewing and Reviewing Saved Analyses with Reveal Diamond Detector 2S document, specifically the Reviewing Analysis Results section.
Reference Stones
The Reference Stones feature gives you a built-in set of example images to compare against the stone you are analyzing. It is available when your REVEAL device software is version 0.1.110 or higher.
While reviewing an analysis, use the Natural and Refer tabs above the reference strip to switch between two sets of example stones:
- Natural: reference images of confirmed natural diamonds, showing the fluorescence and phosphorescence patterns a natural stone typically produces.
- Refer: reference images of stones that should be referred, grouped into Potential CVD (P. CVD), Potential HPHT (P. HPHT), and Potential Simulant (P. Simulant), so you can match your stone against common lab-grown and simulant patterns.
As long as the device is online, your REVEAL connects to the JTR R&D center to check for new references, so your reference stones stay up to date.
Saving the Analysis
- Tap the Save button in the lower-right corner.
- Enter the required information and descriptions for the analysis.
- If the Internet Status is Online: The analysis will be saved to the cloud system and can be accessed from past analyses.
- If the Internet Status is Offline: The analysis will be saved in the device’s memory but will not appear in past analyses.
By following these steps, you can use the Reveal Diamond Detector 2S effectively and perform detailed analyses with accuracy.
